Founded in 2001, the mission of Sisters of the Academy(SOTA) Institute is to facilitate the success of Black women in the Academy.  Specifically, the organization aims to:

  1. create an educational network of Black women in higher education in order to foster success in the areas of teaching, scholarly inquiry and service to the community
  2. facilitate collaborative scholarship among Black women in higher education
  3. facilitate the development of relations to enhance members’ professional development

SOTA’s signature events are the Research Boot Camp©, Writing Retreat, and the Intensive Grantsmanship Seminar.  We invite you to visit the links above to learn more about these activities and determine how SOTA might assist you with your personal and professional goals.
