SOTA is an amazing organization, full of talented young women from various fields in academia and administration. The Outstanding Achievement Recognition allows us to highlight and celebrate our accomplishments. We highlight the accomplishments of Dr. Dannielle Joy Davis.

Dr. Dannielle Joy Davis is assistant professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Department at the University of Texas-Arlington. Dr. Davis’ professional strengths are seen in her research interests and scholarly productivity. She recently published a feature article in College and University Journal, which was honored by the American College Personnel Association Roberta Christie Paper Award for exceptional scholarship on diversity. Dr. Davis was also recognized as an emerging scholar in her field and is sought after nationally for her expertise in mentoring and faculty retention. At UTA, she was acknowledged as the Vice President of UTA Black Faculty and Staff Association and elected on the UTA Women’s Studies Advisory Board. Mentorship is a research focus and a personal act of service. Therefore, Dr. Davis mentors students at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels “to influence their presence and success throughout the academic pipeline.”

Sister of the Quarter Cheryl Seals

Dr. Cheryl D. Seals
Associate Professor
Auburn University
Her areas of expertise are human computer interaction, user interface design/evaluation and educational technologies. Cheryl is being highlighted for her success in grant writing for the academic year 2006. Dr. Seals worked in collaboration with many groups. From her diligent work, she has won five grants with the largest being in excess of $200k from the National Science Foundation. The NSF has identified a national problem of dwindling technology workforce and created several grants to address this issue. The "BPC STARS Alliance" grant was awarded to broaden participation in computing with activities for bridging, retention, recruitment and leadership.

Accepts an administrative position as Director of Outreach Planning and Faculty Engagement , Auburn University. Dr. King-Jupiter has served as a faculty member for 10 years in the College of Education, Education Leadership Foundations and Technology Department. Her areas of expertise are the impacts of race, class, and gender on the quality of education in the United States and internationally; examination of factors which impact students' access to and shape the quality of their educational experiences in higher education in both the United States and Southern Africa. with specialities in the area of qualitative analysis
