Sisters of the Academy Institute (SOTA) conducts a biennial Writing Retreat. With host partnership institutions, we have held the Writing Retreat at Connecticut State University and the University of Tennessee System on the campus of Knoxville. Through the Writing Retreat SOTA seeks to build a scholarly writing community by assisting participants with their writing endeavors —including dissertations, manuscripts, reports, or book chapters.      

The Writing Retreat features Writing Circles of 3-5 participants based on research topics. Within these group writing circles, each group receives a facilitator, who will support participants via email and conference calls prior to and during the Writing Retreat. The writing circles and their facilitators will meet for three days of writing and professional development.
